goodness, anny, we have a big day coming up weatherwise. >> we have not declared a severe weather alert day yet. we'll look at the latest models and decide that probably before the noon show. for the rest of today, we're expecting mostly cloudy conditions and yeah, big storms are possible later today. here is a look at your day planner now. by 9:00, still mostly cloudy. chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. by 5:00, storms are likely. temperatures in the mid-80s. right now, 79, mild and muggy under mostly cloudy conditions. we do have a flood watch in effect. flash flooding possibility. that starts at noon this afternoon. goes through late tonight. that includes the entire d.c. metro area. the portion of the mid-atlantic in fact. here is a look at live doppler. fairly quiet out there. scattered light showers up to the north of us. we're under cloudy skies. much different picture late this afternoon. in fact, here is a look at the risk for severe weather. the areas we see here shaded in yellow. a good portion of the mid- atlantic. the main threat for today, damaging wind g

leak shut down i-270 for phi hours. if you've seen the volume of traffic on that road, it is a big deal. surae chinn is live in clarksburg where repairs are still going on as we speak. good morning, surae. >> good morning to you. the commute this morning will be much, much better. it will be improved because the roads are open. 270 wide open this morning. the only thing you really have to worry about is working around the work zone because it will be down to one lane. let me show you this work zone and where that main broke here. it is right there at the three pillars you see over there. that's to hold up the earth so it doesn't cave in. the big excavator, the one where the windows got blown out so you can imagine big pressure that was happening as that gas main broke. you can see the mud all over the place that caused this very dangerous situation. well, this happened around 4:00 yesterday and people were working through the night to make those repairs and also keep this place safe. traffic backed up as you mentioned, 270 was shut down just as the evening commute got underway. cars had

, you can see the big ridge of high pressure right over the tennessee and ohio valley and that's sort of going to build in today and protect us from getting too much in the way of storminess. also boost the temperatures up. now tonight little front is going to be coming through and tomorrow morning, front right here. this thing sags south of us so that we're looking at some scattered showers and thunderstorms and for us we're in good shape tomorrow and sunday. not as hot. today record heat 102. hot tomorrow 95. sight chance of a storm late today up north. if you go to the beach, the water temperatures well up in the 70s now with the ocean city inlet and looking good this weekend saturday. 90. sunday i think we'll be okay, i think a slight chance of a storm, 88 and monday 87. tuesday 93 and some storms finally become here wednesday and thursday -- back here wednesday and thursday. now with the timesaver traffic. >>> a couple of accidents all morning long on 95 in virginia. that's why we have the yellow light. out live here, route 1 in wood bridge, we have the accident tractor-trailer a

money you're spending on salaries over at the white house. we're talking about some big bucks here! white house staffers make $37 million a year combined in salaries and here's a look at the breakdown. it takes 454 staffers to run the white house office and that doesn't count staff for the president like butlers and chefs. the median salary for white house worker is $70,000 a year but one out of every three people working at the white house makes at least $100,000 a year. and the maximum salary allowed is $172,200. so, who makes that much money? we're only talking about the biggest names here. press secretary, jay carney, counter terrorism advisor john brennan. chiefs of staff bill daley. adviser david plouffe and seven others. of course, the president makes over $400,000. >> we're talking our tax dollars. >> what if they're with private companies? >> they would make a lot more. let's take the case of bill daley, for example, when he was working with jpmorgan, he was making $9 million. >> whoa! >> but think of it this way, of course working at the white house increases your marketa
